Schneider, KatieProject: Short Story
Students will develop a short story over the course of the week, creating a polished, organized product. Her residency would consist of free writing exercises that will lead into the story ideas.
Katie Schneider has over 10 years’ experience working with elementary school-age children. She wrote her first novel working in a Catholic school, which must be why it has something to do with the Virgin Mary. Now in her fourth year at COW, her primary goal is to encourage kids to see writing as a means of self-expression, not something they just have to do “for school.” She has the kids write a short story during the course of the week. Katie’s current writing projects include a fantasy Young Adult novel, and ongoing book reviews for The Oregonian. Last updated: November 2005 |
