Prewriting

Materials:  Overhead-projected, or actual, photographs.

Activity:  Display overheads, or place ten to fifteen photographs or pictures in the classroom. Pick one at a time to use as a class prompt. Call on students to tell you what is happening in the selected photo. Write out the class story on an overhead, chart paper, chalkboard, or other material.

Next, have students each pick their favorite photo to use as a  writing prompt to create their own stories.
